In partnership with Mathematica, and with the support of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas Education Research Center (ERC), PSC recently completed its first statewide value-added earnings study in Texas. In this study, we examine the value-added earnings outcomes of nearly one million students who enrolled in 86 public institutions in Texas from 2008-09 through 2018-19 and who sought bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees, or certificates.
Texas’ exceptionally high-quality data system linking students from high school through postsecondary education and the workforce made it a logical partner to pilot PSC’s methodology. PSC is grateful to THECB and the ERC for granting us access to Texas’ state longitudinal data system.
PSC and Mathematica will present the study’s methodology and findings on May 14th, 2026 during a panel discussion at an American Enterprise Institute (AEI) event focused on value and accountability in U.S. higher education. Register here to join the event virtually or in person.
